The Rurikid Family of Russia:
Rurik, a Varangian prince who established the Rurikid dynasty in 862 through his control of Novgorod, is traditionally recognized as the inaugural ruler of Russia. His successor, Oleg, founded the Kievan Rus' state and designated Kiev as its capital. In 1547, Ivan IV, known as "the Terrible," became the first individual to be formally crowned Tsar of all Russia.
Reigning from around 862 to 1598. It all began with Rurik, the founder, who ruled from about 862 until his death at around age 50 in 879. After him came Oleg the Seer, a relative of Rurik and regent for Rurik’s son, Igor. Over the next several centuries, the most important titles were Grand Prince of Kiev and Prince of Novgorod. Oleg ruled for 30 years, and after his death, Igor I, the son of Rurik, took the throne.
It ending on the 17th January 1598, when Feodor I the Blessed (the only surviving son of Ivan the Terrible) died without an heir.
