The Williams' Family Tree:
The Williams were a great mystery to me, I was told that Walter Williams my great grandfather was a soldier and horse-keeper and died after being kicked in the head by a horse. The only records I could find for him, were his marriage to Elizabeth Mary Clayden, which had taken place on the 4th January 1893 at the Chelsea Register Office, which recorded his father as Joseph Williams. His death certificate stated he died aged 37 on the 21st June 1899, at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington in London, Cause of Death Carcinoma of Caecum Asthenia.
Carcinoma = Cancer.
Caecum = Bowel Cancer
Asthenia = Loss of Strength.
So all the information I had for Walter Williams was his father was called Joseph, he was born about 1861/62, and he died on the 21st June 1899 of Bowel Cancer. I did look for years’ to found out more on the Williams, but without any success.
Edith "Edie" Williams 1896-1975: Nan.
For Christmas 2020, my daughter Laura, brought me a dna test kit, which I sent off in November 2020. Using ancestry.co.uk website, I have at the time of writing in July 2021, 12,689 matches, of which I have 294 close matches (4th Cousins or closer.) The only way you can see how you are related to one and other, is if the other person as put a tree on ancestry with matching people in my tree. So many people have no trees at all, other people have trees with very little information, that I can not possible find out how we are connected. Out of the 12,689 matches, I have only found a connection with about a 100.
For instance, I known that a Christina Connelly is a cousin of mine, but have no idea which ancestors connect as. So from time to time I will pick a name from the dna matches, and see if I can found a connection.
In February 2021, I picked out one Keith Jarman, and after doing research on the Jarman family, image my surprise when I come across a Joseph Williams who married Harriet Jarman on the 14th April 1852 at St Mary the Virgin, West Bergholt in Essex.
In January 1852, Harriet gave birth to twin boys Joseph and George Jarman. Joseph was the 2x great grandfather of Keith, the connection being 3rd or half 3rd cousins, depending on who his 3x great grandfather was. I have no idea to the identity of Joseph and George’s father, if Joseph Williams was the father, why did Joseph and George go by the name of Jarman?
In May 1855, Harriet gave birth to our 2x great uncle Alfred William. Alfred, Walter's brother a groom, married Elizabeth Preston of West Bergholt the daughter of William a sawyer, on the 31st July 1882 at St Andrew’s Church, Barnsbury, Islington, Middlesex in London. Alfred was also a Lance Corporal in the 45th Regiment Sherwood Foresters.
